The Candied Yam

OMG!!! That dinner was one of the best soul food meals I have ever had!! Fried chicken was crispy and delicious, candied yams seasoned to perfection and sweet, and the Mac and cheese was great! The bread pudding was off the charts. Some of the best bread pudding I’ve ever had. Atmosphere was good and clean. They even played smooth jazz that reminded me of the early 2000s. Kam was our waiter, he was courteous, funny, and was a delight. After our meal I did a little happy shimmy. 10/10!

Our first time there. The restaurant was super clean. Our waiter, Chris, was great! Excellent people skills, and wonderful waiter. The rolls at the beginning were DELICIOUS! I could have eaten ten of them! I ordered the crab imperial, and, it was delicious, great flavor, plenty of white, lump crab meat and a big portion (enough for two to split). I got the greens and candied yams, and both were delicious! My husband got the flounder and shrimp, both broiled, he said it was delicious also! He got the mac & cheese and green beans and said both were great! We will DEFINITELY return to the Candied Yam. We were very pleased. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

We came here for dinner after a long day in the sun at Ocean City. We were starving when we walked in and could barely walk when we left. There was live music and a really lively crowd also enjoying dinner when we walked in. The hostess was very attentive and our server Kimani was very friendly and very helpful. The rolls they brought out were incredible. I got the sweet tea and one of my friends got the lemonade. Do NOT get the lemonade if you’re diabetic because it was super sweet and super delicious. I ordered the fried chicken with macaroni and collard greens. I tried some of my friend’s candied yams and they were also delicious. Everything all tasted like home. I wish this place was closer to my house but I might just have to settle for coming here after beach trips. Highly recommend, would love to come back soon!

We visited this location while in Salisbury. We had 3 meals and 3 deserts. - Salmon, cabbage, Yams & bread pudding. The Salmon has a sweet bourbon sauce that was flavorful and made the salmon moist. The cabbage was seasoned well and had a good crunch to it. The Yams were Supreme. They weren't too sweet and doesn't have marshmallows on them. The bread pudding was moist and had a good crunch. - Ribs, Yams, sweet potato fries & peach Cobbler. The ribs fell off the bone they were so tender. The bbq sauce was good. The peach Cobbler was more peach than crust and came with vanilla ice cream with a sprinkle of cinnamon. This was the perfect combination. - Turkey Wings, Rice, Greens & Cinnamon Swirl Cheesecake. The turkey also fell off the bones. The gravy was lightly seasoned and mixed well with the rice. The greens were seasoned with pork but did not have that overwhelming flavor of pork...so good. I could melt into heaven with the cinnamon swirl cheesecake. It was very light and didn't weigh heavy in my stomach (stole a piece from hubby). The atmosphere was welcoming and the server Calvin was awesome! He gave us great suggestions. All of this was under $100! This will now be our go to place when we visit my son.

This Southern Restaurant provides great food at very fair prices. The rolls they provide the table are warm and soft. And the fried chicken had the perfectly fried batter, not too heavy, and seasoned nicely. Bathroom: Clean: Yes Changing Table: Yes Bonus features: None to mention Add'l Notes: The one stall is pretty tight but at least the door opens out!

It was our first time there, my daughter took me for my birthday! The crab dip was along with the toasted chips that came with it! I got the turkey wings and they were very good. The yams I could eat all by themselves. Hope to see you soon!

My wife and I were on a business trip when her coworkers recommended this place to eat. The everything was good about this place. The food, the service, the menu. We felt right at home. Soul food at its finest. The next we in town. We will stop by The Candied Yam.

There was live music, and our hostess and waitress were fantastic. They sat us quickly and the dining area was clean and not too busy. The food was good. I ordered the oxtails for $30, and it was adequate. If I go again, I'll try something else.
